Mastering: The Process

Our Step-by-Step Guide to Mastering at Tenth Egg

Mastering
Before your engineer starts work they'll consider any reference material or other notes you have supplied and may get in touch to discuss the kind of final sound you're after. Each mix will be passed through a combination of digital and analogue processors, applying compression, equalization, limiting and other effects such as width enhancement and harmonic excitement where needed to transform your mixes into final masters. The exact mastering chain will change from project to project and track to track.

Once we're happy with how the tracks are sounding on our main studio monitors we'll check them across multiple playback systems, comparing them to similar material.
